| Safety |
Every competitor must carry a whistle on the course. In the event of an emergency, the signal is 3 blasts on the whistle.
Do not blow your whistle except in an emergency situation. Competitors who hear an emergency signal or see someone in need are
required to stop and provide assistance. Volunteer paramedics will be staffing the first aid tent at the Finish.
Radio communications personnel will be patrolling the area in case anyone needs assistance.

| Competition Center |
Competition Center area is located at a three way intersection near the camping area. Meet officials will be camping
in this area and it will include the Registration area, First Aid tent, E-Punch download tent, Results shelter and both Day's finishes.

| BBQ Potluck |
$5.00 per person (or bring food/drink for 4). Please provide your own chairs.
Hamburgers & hotdogs will be served.

| Out Of Bounds |
Most of the area around the camping zone is out of bounds until after Day 1. Please camp close to the road and stay on the road
when walking to Competition Center or the start. Campers in Hawk Canyon must also remain on the road when returning to Competition
Center or the start. Shortcutting on a direct line is OUT OF BOUNDS! Competitors may warm-up along the Competition Center camping road and
in the flat wash area south of Competition Center.

| Anza Borrego State Park Rules |
- Park on the side of the road, but do not trample vegetation or drive over geological formations.
- Fires built on the ground are NOT permitted. Bring a metal container to hold your fire. Pack out all ashes. Gathering fuel is prohibited.
- Take your trash home with you.
- Camp at least 100 feet away from water
- Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm - 6:00 am. If you are running a generator, you must keep it off from 8:00 pm - 10:00 am.
- Dogs must be on a 6-foot leash and are allowed only in the developed campgrounds and on dirt roads. Dogs are not allowed on trails or in wilderness areas.
- Vehicles must remain on established roads.
- Natural & cultural features are protected and may not be removed or disturbed.

| Directions |
Take Highway 78 - 10.5 miles past the junction with S-3 (Yaqui Pass Road) and 1.5 miles past the junction
with Borrego Springs Road. Look for the brown "Buttes Pass" sign on the left, and in another 25-m, the
orienteering sign and pink streamers on the left marking the turnoff to Buttes Pass. Drive slowly North
on the dirt Buttes Pass Road for one mile to the dirt road junction and then East (right) about 0.4 mile
to the junction with Goat Trail and the camping area and competition center.

| Parking |
Park just off the road in gravel areas or bare earth avoiding vegetation. It is okay to park on top of the short yellow grass.
Please pull off perpendicular to the road to allow for more cars. Beware of sandy area where you are likely to get stuck. We will have
parking personnel to direct you to appropriate spots. In the event that we exceed the area's parking capacity, we may ask late arrivals
to park at the Highway 78 junction and will provide a shuttle to the Competition Center area.
