Fast, fun, and full of surprises—sprint through the multiple twists and levels of San Diego Mesa College!

Experience the thrill of sprint orienteering on one of San Diego’s most intricate urban campuses! San Diego Mesa College—spanning 104 acres in the Clairemont neighborhood—sits atop a flat-topped “mesa” overlooking the city. The campus is home to over 25,000 students and features a complex mix of multi-level buildings, stairways, courtyards, and narrow passageways, making it an ideal venue for fast-paced navigation and tricky route choices.

The map was created in 2024 by master sprint mapper Rex Winterbottom as part of our Sprint San Diego series, and it conforms to the latest international sprint mapping standards. Whether you're brand new to orienteering or a seasoned sprinter, Mesa College offers the best of both worlds: a safe, compact setting for beginners and a technical challenge for experts who want to test their speed and decision-making.

Bonus local connection: SDO member (and math professor!) Ron teaches on campus—so keep an eye out, he might be cheering you on or running the course himself!
